Together we invest in Australian startups with high growth potential
Sydney Angels is the Angels Investing group for all of Sydney including Western Sydney, Southern Sydney, Northern Sydney and Eastern Sydney.
Our 100 plus members have been investing in Australian start-ups since 2008. Our defining feature is our team-based investment process.
Sydney Angels, like most Angel groups, doesn't charge fees for companies to apply for investment.
We have collaborative professional relationships with like-minded Angel groups in other geographies including Brisbane Angels, Melbourne Angels, Southern Angels, Capital Angels, Hunter Angels, Perth Angels to mention a few.
We help our members invest more efficiently and effectively in innovative Australian startups.
We screen hundreds of investment opportunities every year so that our members only see the best. We present them with filtered deals that would be difficult to find and assess on one’s own.
Our membership comprises successful entrepreneurs, business leaders, and more. Working together in teams (syndicates), they select the most attractive deals, leveraging the benefit of their collective wisdom.
Members bring more than just their money to the table. We leverage their skills, knowledge and networks to help ensure that our portfolio companies outperform non-Sydney Angels backed startups.
It is an exciting time to be investing in high growth potential startup companies. Our members are able to learn from one another as they evaluate and participate in deals together, in our team-based investment process.
We differ from others in the following ways:
We have invested in over 90 companies to date, selected out of hundreds of applicants per year, with many on track to return 10x to their investors.
Once we see important milestones being achieved by a portfolio company, the syndicate and SASF will likely want to provide follow-on funding.
Members interested in a company form a syndicate. They collaborate to complete due diligence, individually and collectively assessing the quality and ROI potential of a deal.
We filter applicants through six investment cycles per year. Each cycle progresses through four stages:
Weekly review of applications.
Deal screening meeting: pitch invitation and Q&A for the top six startups.
Members meeting: presentation and Q&A for the top three startups.
Syndicate formation: members form teams to begin due diligence on the companies they are interested in..
