This Workshop will give an overview of what IP protection is available, what value it can bring to a start-up business, and what risks you need to aware of (competitors IP, for example). We will cover: IP rights. Registered and unregistered IP. How do you establish the ownership of the IP (it can be a terrible mistake to invest in a company that does not own or have rights to the IP being exploited)? How can IP protection be used to add value to a business? Different businesses have different IP requirements and risks. We will look at different types of business. We will take a look at different IP strategies that may be applied. Which is appropriate for your investment? What steps should a start-up take to protect their IP, given the limited resources available? How do you keep IP protection options open for low cost? Other peoples IP. What do you need to be aware of and what risks are involved? Could your investment infringe other’s IP? How do you find out?
