Some Sydney Angels members first invested in DriveMyCar in 2009 and invested more in follow-on rounds over several years, ultimately leading to a backdoor listing on the ASX (CL8) as Collaborate Corporation, which today operates several brands, including Carly car subscriptions.

A syndicate of Sydney Angels members and sidecar fund first invested in Jayride in 2012 and in follow on rounds over several years. Jayride did its IPO on the ASX (JAY) in January 2018.

Sydney Angels portfolio company Atomo Diagnostics listed on the ASX (AT1) on 16 April 2020. A few far sighted Sydney Angels members invested in Atomo starting back in 2010 and enjoyed a 10x return on investment at IPO. Atomo is a global leader in pathology on a stick diagnostic kits and has achieved remarkable success, especially with its HIV test in developing countries without a network of pathology labs, and has more recently been providing COVID 19 rapid test kits. One of its key investors is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Clarity Pharmaceuticals listed on the ASX (CU6) on 24 August 2021, raising $92M from the market and achieving a $360M market cap. Clarity is the developer and manufacturer of a range of radiopharmaceutical “theranostic” products to image and treat cancers in adults and children. Sydney Angels members first invested in Clarity in 2012 and participated in early follow-on rounds. First round investors enjoyed returns of 50x at IPO an IRR of 46% p.a.

Aurtra provides remote condition monitoring of transformers in electricity distribution networks. Sydney Angels members first invested in Aurtra in 2019 and a subsequent follow-on round. In 2021 Schneider Electric acquired Aurtra, giving Sydney Angels members a 4.3x return and an IRR of 91% p.a. (because of the unusually short time to exit).

A syndicate of Sydney Angels members first invested in Instaclustr in 2014 and in follow-on rounds over several years. Instaclustr provides managed database SaaS. In 2022 Instaclustr was acquired by NetApp (a NASDAQ listed co) for over A$700M. Sydney Angels members enjoyed returns of 39x on their first round investment and an IRR of 63% p.a.
